Buenos Aires Por La Noche (By Night)

Last week three of the students had finished their courses at Elebaires and, sadly, were leaving Buenos Aires. All the current students at Elebaires decided to organise a night out to give them a big farewell! The night life in Argentina starts a lot later compared to most other countries.. Supper is at around 11pm, then people normally gather to have some drinks before the “boliche” (club) at 1am and the “boliches” open at 3am until 6am. Our evening began in La Cucina de Michele, an italian restaurant in Palermo. The food was delicious and the portion sizes were huge! We all ate far too much pasta! But it was a really nice meal and it was great to have some bonding time outside of the school.

After dinner, we headed over to a Dutch bar called Van Koning. Two of the girls who were leaving were from Holland, so requested we go and try out this bar. Some of us were a bit apprenhensive about the Dutch music but it turned out to be like a normal bar with fun music and a cool atmosphere. We were sat outside at the back where there is a bar and big tables where we could all gather round.

After a few drinks at the Dutch bar, we headed over to Kika. It’s a club in the trendy area of Palermo Soho, where a lot of young people like to go out. The queue wasn’t too long and we were able to get in at a reduced cost because there was a big group of us (a bonus)! There was good music inside – the main room where you first walk in plays well-known English music and then there’s another room a bit further in which is typical Spanish music. We stayed for most of the night in the second room as it was a bit of a change to the music that we were all used to hearing in the clubs back home! By 6am, our feet were hurting from all the dancing and the sun was starting to rise already so it was time for bed.
