Here at Elebaires we love our food and we think it’s a great way to get around and experience the culture here. If you´re coming to Buenos Aires then it is an absolute crime to not experience some of the outrageously good steak they have to offer here. Don Julios and La Cabrera at the two places that get a lot of airtime here. Again, get to the doors early or book as the restaurant can fill up quickly. However, even if you are a bit late then don’t fret as you´ll be given a glass of champagne to ease the pain!
Once your inside, don’t bother with starters as it’s the meat that Don Julio has earnt his reputation for. I chose a Bife de Lomo (the tenderloin) – muy rojo, por favor – but my classmates from Elebaires chose Bife de Chorizo (Strip loin steaks) and Ojo de Bife (ribeye) aswell. The beef was SPECTACULAR! At Don Julio´s they pay a lot of attention to how the customer likes to have their beef cooked. It was fantastic to have a service that delivered a delicious and juicy cut of beef cooked to the precision of the clients desire. You wont need to bother with a pudding here as the steaks are as big as your face. Everyone left the restaurant absolutely filled to the brim but what an experience it was! Great atmosphere, some nice staff and some great Malbec to boot….
Julio really is the Don of beef in Buenos Aires.
Ps. Head over to this website to learn the names of the different cuts in Argentina.
