Foreigners favorite (Argentine) Spanish Words

Here at elebaires we like to give students the opportunity to make their mark at our school. Our wall of fame represents the different cultures, people, and personalities we see pass through are doors and hallways. We ask every student, on their day of departure, to pain their hand and put their handprint on our wall accompanied by their name, where their from, and their favorite spanish word that they have learned here at Elebaires. Here we have some good ones to share:

Luciérnaga- firefly

Parilla- grill (very important for the famous argentinean ASADO)

Empanada- empanada, enough said

Fiesta- party

momentito- a quick moment

burbuja- bubble

Quilombo- Argentinean slang for disaster

Helado- Ice cream (something that you MUST try here in Buenos Aires…its delicious)

Alfajores- argentinean pastry with dulce de leche
