My Favorite Food Hotspots in Buenos Aires

I have been living in Buenos Aires for 2.5 months now and during these months I have been discovering the city, but what I have done mostly is… eating, eating and more eating. You know, food is life and I have come to love some places for its delicious food and unique concepts. The following restaurants are my favorite hotspots, which in my opinion, every traveler in Buenos Aires should visit!

If you love meat…

• La Hormiga – Armenia 1680
Try the best meat in your life by eating bife de chorizo (sirloin rump steaks or entrecote) at this picturesque restaurant. Besides that the food tastes delicious, the dish is a work of art to look at. Want to create some art yourself? That is possible! Use the chalks which are placed on the table and draw whatever you want on the paper placemat. Fun evening guaranteed!

If you love pizza…

• San Paolo – Uriarte 1616
Pizza lovers, pay attention! If you want to have a real good Italian pizza in Buenos Aires, then I advise you to go to this place. The owner is a very friendly Italian man and he will make you feel like you are in Italy for a moment with his sincere hospitality and his very Italian accent.

If you love tacos…

• La Fabrica del Taco – Goritti 5062
This restaurant has it all; a nice atmosphere, very good Mexican food, Mexican music, nice waiters and quick ordering. A bonus is that the menu is rather cheap, which makes it a fun evening for your wallet as well.

If you love hamburgers…

• Burger Joint – Jorge Luis Borges 1776
The absolute number 1 hamburger restaurant in Buenos Aires. The food is prepared with love and you can taste this. Although the restaurant maintains a self-service policy, it doesn’t make the food any less good tasting. Tip; after you have received your food, you have to go to the romantic open-air garden with the lovely, little fountain.

If you love pastries…

• Ninina Bakery – Goritti 4738
Ninina Bakery is a cute pastry place where every little girl´s dream comes true. The pastries look amazing and the choice from the menu is extensive. I recommend trying the cheesecake, if you want to taste a piece of heaven on earth in your mouth.

If you love ice cream…

• Fragola Helados Naturales – Paraná 1205
Living or traveling to Buenos Aires and not eating ice cream is practically impossible, because you will find ice cream shops on almost every corner of the street. With so many choices in ice cream shops it is a fun challenge to find the best one. However, I think I found my favourite one; it is called Fragola Helados Naturales and it is situated in Recoleta in front of Parque Vincente Lopez. It is a place which is more or less hidden for the ordinary tourist, but going a bit off the known trail never hurt anyone =)
