Accommodation: We’re here to help Part 2

So the last time you heard from us (Accommodation: We’re Here to Help Part 1) we spoke to you about the advantages and disadvantages of hostels towards your experience in Buenos Aires. In Part 2 of our investigation we will be evaluating the benefits of an experience in a Student Residence. Keep in mind that while Buenos Aires is a beautiful and lively city, but just like every other city, you have to be aware of who you can trust. When it comes to accommodation, we don’t recommend you take the unnecessary risk (and effort!) in finding your own accommodation. At Elebaires, we will help you find the right accommodation for you through our tried and tested sources. So without further delay… onto the pros and cons of Student Residences!!!

In a Student Residence, you will be surrounded by a plethora of friendly faces. The majority of these faces will be Argentine, giving you the opportunity to mingle with locals from Buenos Aires as well as those from the outer provinces who have come to study at a University in Buenos Aires. With this interaction, you will be able to learn more about Argentina and the experiences of the people, as well as making valuable friends. In addition to the Argentine students, there will also be other international students that you can share travel stories with.

At the Student Residence, you have the choice of a private or shared room, a single or a double room, with a private bathroom. It comes with breakfast, Wi-Fi access, a student common area, TV and bed linens and towelling. The downside is that there is no kitchen to make your own meals and while there are many affordable places to eat around Buenos Aires, some of us like to cook for ourselves on occasion. The residence does provide lunch and dinner at an additional cost if you so wish.

The Student Residence is located in a hip and historic part of Buenos Aires which is about a 15 minute walk or 5 minutes in the subway from our School. This particular neighbourhood, San Telmo, has a great night-life with many restaurants and bars as well as amazing weekend markets. This is a great neighbourhood to base yourself in while you are here, but as with all neighbourhoods, you should be aware of your surroundings and where to avoid late at night.

So in summary, some of the advantages to staying in a Student Residence are:

• •Good for your Spanish
• •Many room type options

Some of the disadvantages to staying in a Student Residence are:

• •Limited Availability!!!
• •No kitchen available for private cooking
