Day at an estancia

A trip to an estancia was a very special ocasion and fantastic experience for me. It was so nice to have had the oppurtunity to get out of the city and enjoy a day in Argentina´s amazing countryside. I was really able to see what life outside the city was like. It was also fantastic to have a break from the hussle and bussle of the city.
We left the city at 9am all together on a mini bus that Elebaires had organised for us. It took us about an hour to get the the estancia that we were going to for the day. Once we arrived at the estancia we were welcomed by the host family who were very hospitable and showed us around there house. We then spent the morning relaxing by the swimming pool and kicking a football around in the garden. After this we were called in for lunch where a huge asado had been prepared with various different parts of the cow which I had never tried. It was absolutely delicious and honestly some of the best meat I have ever eaten.
After lunch we were then taken down to where they kept the horses. As I have very little riding experience I was slightly apprehensive at first but the horses were very mellow and even I could manage. We were then given a tour of the whole estancia on horse back by one of the gauchos who looked after the horses. This was great as it was so peaceful and such an amazing way to get around the place. We were able to get to places that no vehicle would be able to.
After this we then sat and had mate with the gauchos and watched whilts they preformed a very impressive show with the horses for us. We then headed back to the house for a few drinks and tapas before it was sadly time for us to head back to the city.
I had such an amazing day there and it was so nice for us to get some fresh air outside the city.
I honestly can´t suggest this trip enough to anyone who comes to Buenos Aires. You really do experience another dimension to the countrys culture and way of living.
