Before I arrived in Buenos Aires I asked Elebaires which type of accommodation would best suit me. I told them I was looking for an option which would allow me to talk as much Spanish as possible whilst being in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. They told me that the home-stay option would be perfect as I would be forced to speak Spanish and they knew many families all over the city. At first I was not keen on the idea of moving in with a family that I didn’t know and knew I would struggle to communicate with. How wrong I was. For the minute I walked into my house I never looked back. I was greeted by the whole family straight away and really made to feel part of the family. They helped to settle in very quickly and were invaluable when it came to finding my way around the city. They were also so patient with me at the beginning and appreciated that my Spanish wasn’t very good. They were always happy to repeat things that I didn’t understand and spoke to me slowly. Living with them was also fantastic for my Spanish. I was able learn a lot during my lessons in the morning and then put it into practice once I returned home. The mother would cook supper for us every night without fail. This was always delicious and we would eat together as a family. It was also a very relaxed way to live. I was given my own key and allowed to come and go as pleased. When the time came for me to leave it was a very sad day. I really feel that I have made some new friends for life and we are constantly in contact now. I cannot recommend this accommodation option enough to anyone coming to Buenos Aires!
