A massive reading about the Devine Comedy on social media

With the beginning of the New Year, the simultaneous reading marathon about Dante Alighieri’s masterpiece has started.  It could become one of the literary events of 2018. Since Elebaires housed in the building that is based on the Devine Comedy; Palacio Barolo, here a little bit about it!

Palacio Barolo

The Palacio Barolo is one of the most beautiful buildings in Buenos Aires and we are proud to be located here. When constructed, it was the highest building in South America. The Italian architect Mario Palanti designed, motivated by the architect’s admiration for Dante Alighieri, the Palacio Barolo in accordance with the cosmology of Dante’s Divine Comedy. Social media

Dante Alighieri’s masterpiece, an allegorical poem structured by a total of 100 songs, is updated almost seven centuries after its publication. The update was launched through a massive and spontaneous reading on social media. And according to the many who already confirmed their participation, there will be thousands of enthusiastic readers!

Pablo Maurette

The initiative was promoted through Twitter by the essayist Pablo Maurette (@ maurette79) and started the first of January this year:  the idea is to read one song of the Devine Comedy per day, (of the 100 songs, 33 correspond to Heaven, 33 to Purgatory and 33 to Hell) for a hundred days. This as a virtual tribute to the famous Italian author. It will surely get many readers of the new generation, who not have been in contact with this literary piece, to appreciate it. Under the hastag #Dante2018, they can discuss the Devine Comedy and make it a trending topic!

100 days

The reading began with the change of year and will end 100 days later, on April 10. New lectures, group meetings and debates will be specified among those who want to remain linked to the project. Those interested in joining can read alone, in pairs, in trios, by tens, by teleconference, by Skype or FaceTime. They can be put together in houses, bars and squares; complete and absolute freedom!
