Primavera en (Spring in) Buenos Aires

During spring, Buenos Aires will turn purple. The wonderful jacaranda trees that are found

throughout Buenos Aires burst into a striking purple blossom, which ends up carpeting the

streets with a wonderful effect.

It is also a great time to walk around the many lush parks of the Palermo neighborhood, and

in other green areas of the city such as Plaza San Martin and Park Lezama. The Porteños

(“people that are originally from Buenos Aires) are relieved that the winter is over, and they

are generally also at their happiest during spring, two of many excellent reasons why this is

the best time to visit the city. The sky is bright, crisp and blue (like the Argentine Flag), people

are already sunbathing in the parks as if summer has arrived.

Buenos Aires will become more pleasant during the spring. The mornings are sometimes a bit

fresh, the temperature rises around noon and decreases at night.

With pleasant temperatures hovering around 25 °, there are many things to do, without the

oppressive heat of summer neither the cold of winter.

Every September 21st they celebrate the  ̈Día de la Primavera ̈ or  ̈Spring day ̈ in Buenos Aires.

They celebrate this day in various parks around Buenos Aires. It is also known as the youth’s

day or student day where all students from elementary school to high school will skip classes

and go out to parks all across the city together with their friends and have a picnic. This day

Buenos Aires is a city that has much to offer in both day and night time, and spring is exactly

the best time to discover this.

1- Enjoy the green parks

Palermo Woods with his different varieties of trees, rose gardens and three lakes. Here you

can sit on the grass and enjoy the sun, eat something or drink a mate, walk around the lakes,

run, ride a bike, do exercise, or take a boat trip on the lake.

2- Visit the Japanese Garden (Jardín Japonés)

The Japanese Garden is part of the Tres de Febrero Park. It is a great garden with different

oriental plants and trees, a greenhouse where you can buy the famous bonsais, a cultural

center, a library, and, in the middle a large lake.. You can walk, feed the carps in the lake, sit

down and drink an oriental tea or buy some crafts.

It is a place full of symbolisms: the stones, the water, the bridges and the fish.

3- Open Air Markets for All Tastes

If you want to visit markets, you have lots of options in Buenos Aires:

•Artisan Markets offer artistic creativity in original works of art. You will find this in Plaza

Francia in Recoleta.

•Antique Markets, are the ideal places to marvel at objects from the past or find a childhood

toy. The best of the antique markets is the San Telmo Market with more than 250 stands.

•Book Markets offer new and used books at reasonable prices. You can also exchange books

and magazines. You could also visit the markets in Plaza Italia in Palermo.

5- Zoo of Buenos Aires

Visiting the Buenos Aires’ Zoo is a good option when the climate is nice?.

It’s a good time to come into contact with nature, breathe pure air and take a look at the

6- Tigre and Delta de Paraná Excursions

A green oasis at only an hour’s distance from the big city. Take a boat trip, perhaps visit the

Tigre Art Museum or buy something at the Fruit Port (it offers plants, clothing, furniture,

decorative objects and artisan and craft objects as well as fruit and vegetables).
