Semana Santa in Argentina

Made any exciting plans for the long weekend to celebrate Easter? If not then don’t worry, we here at Elebaires thought we would give you some advice on how to make the most of your long weekend away from your  intensive language courses.

As you have 4 days (Thursday – Sunday), why not use the opportunity to escape the city and spend a few days exploring a different part of the country and enjoy new experiences whilst exploring the natural beauty of Argentina.

Head to Mendoza to explore the magnificent vineyards’ and enjoy tasting a grand selection of Argentine wine. Red wine is, along with steak, Argentina’s major export after all. Make sure you don’t for get

to grab a bottle of Malbec, Agentina´s best grape, to take home.

For the more adventurous lot of you out there why not travel down to the south of  Argentina to Barliloche and El Calafate to explore Lake Argentino and Los Glaciares National Park. Even though the winter has yet to fully kick in, be sure to pack some warm clothes.

For those not quite up for the cold of the southern part of the city, Iguazu, in the north, is a must on every traveler’s itinerary. Take in the spectacular waterfalls, whilst also exploring the jungle.

For those wanting to stay in the city, there is plenty to keep you busy. Semana Santa, is a major religious holiday in the Hispanic world and therefore processions are held in a number of the cities neighborhoods, however the best is on Good Friday from Congreso square up Avendia de Mayo up to Plaza de Mayo, right outside Elebaires. Whether you are Christian or not there is plenty to keep you entertained throughout this religious holiday. What’s great is that many people go away for the weekend, so the whole city is a lot more relaxed and less chaotic.
