Summer in Buenos Aires

January has passed and here in Buenos Aires school’s out for summer along with most businesses.
Buenos Aires is hot and humid from December thru March, however most of December remains cool but January and February are the hottest months where most Argentines travel to the Atlantic coast to get away from the sweltering heat and to spend their vacation time. For those of us who remain in Buenos Aires during these hot summer months, here are some suggestions to help you cool off!
If you don’t have any friends with pools there is no need to worry. The largest public pool is found in Parque Norte, a big club in Belgrano near the coast. You can spend the entire day there, meeting you people and sliding down water slides

Buenos Aires is a beautiful city which is most enjoyable when spent outdoors. On those cooler days you can enjoy a Sunday at the artisan fair in Plaza Francia or take your bike to Bosques de Palermo and have a picnic on the grass while drinking mate with new friends.
For the hotter days you will most likely be left with the only option of resorting to indoor activities.
Museums are a great place to escape the heat. Museo de Bellas Artes, Evita Museum and MALBA are great options for those unbearably hot days.
If you love movies, head over to one of the many movie theatres to watch the latest flick. You can see a movie in English to cure homesick blues or watch one is Spanish to brush up on your vocabulary. Abasto Mall, Recoleta Village and Puerto Madero Theatre are super comfy with good air conditioning.
If you like to shop or window shop, the Abasto Mall, Alto Palermo and Recoleta Mall are great to visit. They all have food courts where you can sit with a friend, drink a “cortado” and catch up on the latest news.
