What to do when traveling to Iguazu?
Whenever you travel to Iguazu, there are many things you can do. According to us, the best combination is to visit
both the Brazilian side and the Argentinian side of the falls to both get the best views and experience the power of the falls from up close.
An option is to start at the Brazilian side in the city of Foz do Iguazu. This side offers an amazing panoramic view of the large waterstream that is divided intro 275 individual waterfalls. A large number of these 275 smaller falls come together in the most powerfull part of the falls: the “Garganta del Diablo” (translated at the Devil’s throat). After a path with beautiful views, the parc offers a lookout that provides an amazing view of the Devil’s throat. In addition to the falls, the Brazilian side hosts an amazing birdpark named ‘Parque das Aves’. The bus that drives the tourists into the national park starts next to the entrance of the birdpark; this makes it easy to combine both in one day.
At the Argentinian side, adventurous paths through the diverse nature lead you to spots very close to the action. At the national park, there are many trailes to choose. While walking these trails you can see the famous individual falls as for example the ‘Dos Hermanas’, San Martin and the Rivadavia. Our advise is to arrive early to have enough time to experience all paths.
How to get to Iguazu?
If you prefer to travel on your own, then Iguazu is easy to reach form Buenos Aires by plane. Flying directly to Puerto Iguazu is most of the time less expensive then flying to the Brazilian Foz do Iguazu. Once you arrived in Puerto Iguazu, there are many taxi-drivers who can take you to both the Argentinian national parc and to the Brazilian side. Crossing the border requires filling in some forms, but is in general no big deal.
If you prefer to travel in a group to be able to meet new people and share your experience? Then we advise to travel with Argentinaforall. Argentinaforall is a company that hosts group-trips to the wonderful spots that Argentina has to offer. One of them is Iguazu. Next to the fact that a group trip is amazingly fun, travelling with a group could safe you quite a lot of money. Sounds like a win-win to us.
