Elebaires Argentina vs Peru Football Trip

Elebaires loves to organize events for our students so that they can experience as much of the Argentine culture as possible. Elebaires firmly believes in taking a hands on approach when it comes to learning languages and watching these events from in front of a television screen just do not compare!

This weekend’s excursion was the big World Cup Qualifier match for the World Cup in Brazil 2014. While Argentina had already secured a safe qualification into the Brazil world Cup, Peru, their fierce South American rivals, were in need of a victory to stand any chance of progressing.

Elebaires had organized everything from buying the tickets for everyone to planning all of the transport there and back. We arrived in good time to have a juicy hamburger outside of the stadium and give us a chance to absorb the atmosphere and get in the mood for a classic South American rivalry.

The game was fantastic with lots of big tackles and some fantastic goals. At the last Elebaires trip we witnessed one of the greatest rugby teams ever, the All Blacks, and while this football match didn’t have Messi, Tevez, Higuain or Riquelme (!!) the quality of football was still great. However, as with all South American sporting events it is the atmosphere that really sets them apart from the rest of the world. The passionate chanting, the cheering, the whistles, the clapping it all made for a fantastic experience, no doubt aided by the fact that it was against one of their closest rival. Argentina finshed the game with a 3-1 victory and it was a great occasion to witness.
